Separation from
Structure

The unique design of the TENCOR System creates a high security facility within a new or existing building, like a factory or even an office building. Panels are assembled inside the exterior walls, providing high security against penetration.

The security panels are separated from the building structure by either a narrow gap or a walkway. This gap greatly diminishes the transfer of hot or cold temperatures through the exterior wall into the cell. Control of temperature and movement of air within each cell is significantly improved, virtually eliminating drafts and cold spots, and reducing heating and cooling costs.

When large enough, the space between the interior and exterior walls can serve as a
secure maintenance corridor from which mechanical and electrical services are accessed. Maintenance staff are virtually never in contact with inmates.

The separation between the outer wall of a facility and the TENCOR cell wall prevents movement in the outer walls  from being carried through to the cell wall. A major crack, caused by settling, could appear in the outer wall and have absolutely no effect on the walls of adjacent cells and no effect on the security of the facility.
