High strength, 6000 psi concrete creates a hard, pick-proof, rust-proof surface which virtually eliminates the creation of crevices for hiding contraband. Joints between panels are caulked with an epoxy stronger than steel. This provides higher security for the correctional staff and reduces the time normally spent searching for contraband. An added benefit is that this high strength concrete acts as a sound deadener, reducing the noise transferred from cell to cell, compared with metal panel systems.

S-Vent grilles (manufactured by Safety Concepts) are the only grilles that are proven to be truly contraband and suicide-proof. An incident of an attempted or successful hanging from one has never been reported. It is for this reason that TENCOR has chosen to use them exclusively. Their patented zigzag air passageways eliminate looping of anything from one passageway to another and allow no opportunity for the concealment of contraband.
