The Tensional Core System (TCS)

The TCS panel is a unique interlocking assembly of steel components encased in high strength (6,000 psi) concrete. This technology allows our maximum security panel to resist penetration from hand tools for over 30 minutes (ANSI/UL 608 Penetration Testing Method). In contrast, a  6" welded reinforced concrete wall resists penetration for only 8 minutes.

The TENCOR panel is thinner, lighter, stronger, yet remarkably less expensive than conventional construction methods. By using different gradations, panels can be produced with security ratings from minimum to super-max. These panels interlock to become the interior walls, floors and ceilings, (as well as some of the accessories) in cells, dayrooms, service chases and administrative areas.

A blow from a sledgehammer can cause high strength concrete to shatter like a pane of glass. With concrete walls or reinforced concrete, the impact is transferred through the wall in a conical shape with the small end at the point of impact and the large circle on the opposite side of the wall.

In contrast, when a TENCOR panel is struck with a sledgehammer, the tensional steel core transforms the impact into a cone with the smallest circle on the opposite side of the wall from the point of impact.  The force of the blow is absorbed, dramatically reducing spalling on the back face of the concrete.
