Letter from the Warden of Dorchester Detention Center:
I am writing this letter to express our appreciation for the performance of Tencor and the quality of the Tencor Security Panel System on the Medical Unit addition to the Dorchester County Detention Center.
All of our previous efforts to develop the long needed medical unit had been frustrated to the point where we were about to lose valuable State financing. When I was first introduced to the Tencor Security Panel System, it seemed too good to be true. Your rapid reply with a design and firm cost estimate set the standard of performance that you maintained throughout the project.
The Tencor System has saved the County almost $500,000 had the County proceeded with conventional construction. Furthermore, Dorchester County would not have received the high level of security, finish and quality inherent in your product. When it comes to the issue of security, my staff is very critical. After scrutinizing the assembly and finishing of the Medical Unit, they could not find any flaws. The inability to hide any contraband has given them a sense of safety.
I am most impressed by Tencor's delivery of a complete cell package including doors, hardware, windows, lights, plumbing fixtures and furnishings. When the problem concerning the light fixtures arose, it was remedied immediately without issue. Actions of this manner made the experience of construction a pleasure rather than one of contention.
The Commissioners of Dorchester County have received high value for their money. The Detention Center has a Medical Unit with which we are well pleased.
Once again, I express our appreciation for a project well done.
Sincerely,
Steven R. Williams, Warden
Note: Mr. Williams is also current President of the Maryland Correctional Administrators Association.
